Is working with a financial planner expensive?
It depends on what kind of help you need. If I help you with insurance, my commission is paid by the insurance company from the premiums you pay. If I manage investments, the fee is a percentage based on how much you have invested. For full financial planning, I charge an annual fee based on your needs—like if you’re single, married, or a business owner. I’ll always explain how it works before we begin, and your first visit is free.
How do you get paid, and are there hidden fees?
I believe in being open. If I help you with a product like insurance, I may get paid a commission from the company. If I manage investments, there’s a percentage fee. If we create a financial plan, there’s an annual flat fee. I’ll go over all of this clearly with you before anything starts—there are no hidden charges.
Will you act in my best interest?
Yes. Acting in a client’s best interest is a regulatory obligation for all registered representatives and investment advisors. I will always work to do what’s best for you. If there’s ever a potential conflict of interest, I will explain it to you clearly.
What are your qualifications?
I’ve been helping people work towards their financial goals since 2020. I started with life insurance, then added home, auto, disability, and other types of coverage. In 2023, I added investment and planning services. I hold the following registrations through LPL Enterprise: Series 7, Series 66, and the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) with FINRA. I also hold insurance licenses for long-term care, life, accident, health, property, and casualty, as well as variable life and variable annuity. I complete ongoing training each year to stay current.
How do I know I can trust you?
I believe trust is essential when working with a financial professional. I am licensed for insurance products and registered with the securities regulator, FINRA, for investment products and services. You can look me up on FINRA’s BrokerCheck or the Utah Division of Securities to verify my credentials. Also, for investment accounts, your money is held by a separate clearing firm, not by me. This ensures you can always see where your money is. I’ll take the time to explain things in a way that makes sense.
